The National Council is the supreme governing body of the Health Services Union. National Council consists of the National Officers and the Delegates to National Council. Each Branch of the Union has a number (dependant on the size of the Branch) of Delegates to National Council. The VHPA currently has four Delegates to National Council.
National Officer Elections were held earlier this year for the following positions: National President, National Senior Vice-President, National Junior Vice-President, National Secretary, National Assistant Secretary and two National Trustees.
Craig McGregor, Branch Secretary and formerly Branch Delegate to National Council, was successfully elected to the position of National Trustee. At this point, and in accordance with Rule 15(c), Mr McGregor automatically ceased to hold the position of Branch Delegate to National Council. The Delegate position was thus vacated and needs to be filled.
The Australian Electoral Commission has been notified of the need for an election and the following timetable has been produced.

Close of Roll: Thursday 30 April 2015
Nominations Open: Thursday 7 May 2015
Nominations Close: Thursday 28 May 2015 at 12-noon
Should there be more than one nominee for the position, it will be necessary to put the position to a ballot. The timetable for the ballot is:

The VHPA is a democratic organisation. All members are encouraged to take an active role in the management and governance of the Branch.
